Hyderabad: KAUTILYA School of Public Policy, GITAM, deemed to be university, Hyderabad inked an MoU with the Daksh Society to promote better governance and improve the justice system, through data-based analysis. Under the MoU, both the institutions will conduct mutually supportive, non-partisan, and interdisciplinary research on varied aspects of the justice system. The research will come up with inclusive, transparent, and self-correcting mechanisms that encourage accountability across all branches of the government.

As part of the partnership, the students of Kautilya School of Public Policy will be engaged through internships and capstone projects with Daksh, giving them a firsthand experience, aiding a clearer conception of how the system works. This pragmatic approach will empower the students and help them understand critical concepts in the areas of accountability, transparency, and governance reform. "India is at the cusp of economic recovery and there definitely is a need for a tectonic shift in our justice system, for improved efficiency. Through our collaborations with Kautilya School of Public Policy, we are looking forward to gathering meaningful insights that would help in course correction," said Harish Narasappa, Co-Founder, Daksh.

Speaking about the partnership, Sridhar Pabbisetty, Founding Director, Kautilya School of Public Policy said, "At Kautilya, our objective is to provide diverse, experiential learning opportunities for our students and help them understand the nuances of the policy mechanism. The MoU with Daksh is yet another step towards ensuring our students have practical knowledge and are encouraged to contribute in the problem-solving phase of better governance. Daksh has undertaken several initiatives towards measuring and analyzing political and judicial performance. We believe, with our combined expertise we will become the hub for groundbreaking research and curate implementation models for a better tomorrow."

The MoU also focuses on building long-term relationships through guest lectures by practitioners from Daksh and facilitate research at the intersection of public policy and judicial reforms. There will also be an emphasis on capstone projects created by collaboratively carving out well-defined problem areas and guidance for the students to find feasible and implementable policy solutions.
